Very long day!

73 low, 89 high        12 locks today, 20 total 2014

We departed Trenton at 0755 yesterday to make Lock 1's first opening at 9am. We were led by CARIB 2 and followed by Adagio. Our plan was to stop at Lock 6 in Frankford for the night but we were there by about 1130 and not ready to stop. So we continued further and further. The day started out partly cloudy but later got sunny and the winds picked up quite a bit. We clocked gusts up to 26 mph and steady state of 23 mph. The winds made a couple of the locks tricky. CARIB entered first tying to the starboard wall. We went in behind him also on the starboard wall and Adagio came in and rafted (tied) to our port side. Unlike the locks of last year where you could tie to either side, these fill on the port side and the water there gets very turbulent. We raise up 193' Today.

We arrived in Campbellford, On. a little after 5 pm just ahead of a thunderstorm. The winds were gusting quite high but luckily the marina is a long wall instead of slips. The weather passed quickly and we had dinner with Lon & Pat as Ron & Jan stopped on the last lock wall for the night. This is where the statue of the "Toonie" is, to recognize the efforts of Campbellford artist Brent Townsend who created the polar bear image that was used on the Two Dollar Coin.
