Back in Florida, Amelia Island

29 October 2015    46.6 sm today

We really enjoyed our 3 nights in Brunswick. They are going to film a movie, Live by Night with Ben Affleck set in Ybor City in the 20's. They have built several building and have remodeled the front of many more. The streets are now covered with dirt.

We had a nice cruise this morning to Amelia Island Yacht Basin. The Fernandina marina was full for the Florida/Georgia game in Jacksonville on Saturday.

Leaving Brunswick.

More dolphins!

Kilkenny and Brunswick, Ga.

25-27 October 2015    128 sm total

We left Hilton Head just before 1100 am. Again we had to delay departure so we could have rising tide in some shallow areas. That gave us time to have a leisurely breakfast at the bakery. We had another pleasant day of cruising with just some light rain showers. We pulled into Kilkenny Creek and the marina just about 5 pm.

Departing.

We followed this shrimper into Kilkenny Creek.
Again timing tides we departed at 815 am. We had light showers off and on for most of the day. Kind of boring through this area as mostly marsh lands. We got some good current behind us and made it to Brunswick earlier than planned. We are staying at Brunswick Landing Marina.

Just about to cross under the bridge before turning into the East River to Brunswick landing marina.

Looking back at it.

Lots of shrimp boats.

Today is the 27th and it's been raining lightly all day. It was a planned down day to visit the town but looks like we'll stay and do that tomorrow.

Charleston, Beaufort & Hilton Head

21-24 October 2015    109.7 sm total

We enjoyed our 2 day stay At St. John's Island just outside of Charleston. We were greeted by dolphins as we approached. The first night we went out to dinner with Jimmy & Patti. The next day we all met Brenda and Glenn from Forever Young who we cruised with last year. That evening Jimmy did a low country boil at his house and we were joined by his older sister who Ann hadn't seen in years.

On Saturday we had a pleasant ride to Beaufort. We had 2 shallow spots to time the tide through and had no problems. Again we had dolphins playing with us. Ann got these pictures of one surfing our wake. We stayed at Port Royal Landing Marina.

Today we continued with a short day to Hilton Head. We stayed here at Harbortown on our way north in June and loved it. We had another great day on the water. We have been blessed with great weather since leaving the Norfolk area.

Leaving Beaufort with the sun.

With the mega yachts again.

Isle of Palms and St. Johns Island

20 & 21 October 2015    70.7 sm total

We departed Georgetown at 830 am with a passenger for this leg. Patti Gregory is Ann's cousin Jimmy's wife and she joined us for what was a beautiful trip just shy of Charleston. We docked at Isle of Palms Marina about 230 pm. They had left Patty's car there on their trip up to Georgetown so she and Ann went to Trader Joe's. Upon return, Jimmy showed up and we all went upstairs for happy hour and later dinner.

This house was on an island north of Isle of Palms.
21st. We had a very shallow spot to go through and a very short day planned today so we departed at 1030 am. Just 16 miles later we arrived at St. Johns Island and the yacht harbor. We were greeted by many dolphins as we approached. We'll be here 2 days as we continue our visit with family.
