Great news!!!!!!!!

After several trips to the boat and running the engine shifting through the gears the mechanic determined what was wrong. He finally disconnected the shift cable and moved the lever on the transmission himself between gears. He discovered that the lever was loose on the shaft that goes into the transmission so each time I shifted gears it might return the lever to a different position. He got it tightened and adjusted the cables and we were done. Our prayers are answered! This is something that I'll have to keep an eye on in the future. We'll be on our way tomorrow.
