Manistee day 2

58 low / 70 high

The wave report kept us here another day. The sun came out early and stayed out all day. We wandered through the old downtown area and a lot of the old buildings reminded us of DeLand, Fl where we grew up. We had lunch at a pub in the basement of a boutique hotel that used to be a bank. You would enter up a short flight of steps to the lobby and the teller cages were the check in station. The vault was a gift shop and upstairs were the rooms. After lunch we walked over to the grocery store. Right after we arrived Mon. a 32' Nordic tug named Atla arrived. Steve, the captain came by early in the morning on his kayak and invited us to a looper pot luck dinner at a marina a little further inland on the lake. His wife is caring for her dying mom in South Bend, In. a few hours drive south and she was coming up for the night. We had a great time and met a couple of new loopers plus one we had met before.

The old bank building.

Looking west from the bridge at the river. We are on the left side.

Sengs Marina where the looper pot luck was.

The chefs!

That was hard work!
