Ludington, Mi.

50 low / 70 high

We left Manistee yesterday morning at 730 am bound for Pentwater. The forecast was for smooth seas but we had everything except that. As we came down the coast I called ahead to the municipal marina in Pentwater to inquire about a slip. Nothing available! I called the other marina in town and again, nothing, in fact a 25 boat waiting list. I asked what was going on. It's homecoming which is combined with the anniversary of the founding of the town. He said it's the busiest weekend of the season. So a quick call to Ludington Municipal got us a space for the night. It's only 9 miles short of Pentwater. This is also the home of the S.S. Badger, the largest car ferry ever built for service on the great lakes. It make 2 - 4 hour crossings a day during season to Wisconsin. It was launched in 1953 to carry railroad cars initially. It can carry 600 passengers and 180 vehicles. We saw it come in last night from the restaurant at 700 pm. No pictures though. We'll take some tonight.

Ann's blueberry wheat beer at lunch.

Great food here!

A mural on the wall of a store.

Breakfast at a 50's style diner/ice cream counter.
