Lock 6 wall and wi-fi

We left Rouses Point at 0740 in pretty windy conditions. We had the wind off our stern quarter which would blow us down onto the boat next to us. We had a line around the cleat at the end of the pier and walked the boat about half way out of the slip. Along came a gentleman who asked if he could help. He kept us in tight until we could clear our neighbors boat. A 2 mile trip later we arrived at the Canadian customs pier. They helped us tie up and about 10 minutes later they were sending us on our way. Only questions were about pets and weapons and anything that wasn't for personal use.

Fort Lennox, built to protect the colony from the Americans.

The trip up the Richelieu River was beautiful. The winds died down and it was overcast. As we approached lock 9 and the 2 bridges before it and a call on the radio synchronized all openings.

 A lift bridge.

The lock office.

Lock #9

Afterword the canal is very narrow. Our concern was meeting boats southbound.

Go behind us.

after 400+ feet in the lake.

The winds picked up to 25 mph right off our left side so the locks were metering boats through up and down so no one would meet in the narrow spaces. We finally made it to lock #6 where we were told to tie up to the approach wall and wait for 2 sets of baots locking south. We relaxed on Go in the ac until the lock staff told us we could go through. As we started back to the boat we saw the huge thunderstorms building to the north and decided to stay here for the night along with the 2 boats we were waiting for going south in the lock.

Hand operated locks.

Here we are!

The temp. today was 94 with a heat index of 107. The ac worked fine.
Glad we waited out the storms. Will try to get to lock #3 tomorrow and spend the day in Chambly.
