We wound up staying 3 nights in Whitehall. It's an old marina but the staff was fantastic. They were always there to help with anything. We got the boat cleaned and all the fenders scrubbed from the muddy lock walls.
This was our neighbor for the first evening. It's a restored yacht that had the owners aboard along with 3 paid crew. Our first afternoon the crew were cleaning the boat with razor blades, toothbrushes and polish. The crew was about our age.
We stayed the extra night because our long lost friends Ron & Jan Matuska from Adagio and John & Barbara from GO were to arrive for the evening. It was great seeing them again and even had fireworks that evening, It turns out that Whitehall celebrates the 4th a week later.
Go.
Adagio.
We did drive around the town one day and saw many old, old buildings.
Whitehall is the official end of the Champlain and the beginning of the lake although you still travel quite a distance in a very narrow waterway. It was beautiful!
Fort Ticonderoga built in the 1750's by the French.
A monument at the base of the bridge in Fort Henry.
Our home this evening is the Westport Marina. Great views!
John & Barbara arrived about 2 hours after us and anchored out here. Hopefully we'll see them for dinner.
