Almost to the St. Lawrence

When I got up yesterday morning it was 61 degrees out. The day stayed in the high 60's until late in the afternoon. Beautiful weather! The lock wall was full for the night with 4 other boats. The lock opens at 9am so we were ready to go but we were packed so tightly we had to wait for the others to leave. The first 2 departed southbound but the one in front of us did not. Ann started talking to them to see if they were northbound and they said no but advised us that there were 6 boats locking up from the basin southbound that we would have to wait for. These last 3 locks are together as stairs. They also told us of a marina on the river to stay at and gave us some tips on the anchorage that we will stay at tonight. They live just above it.

Looking down to the basin from lock #3. You can see lock #2 just below the gate.

Yes it is a palm tree in a pot!

It was very busy on the river being Sun. and no one slows down for anybody so we were waked by some very big boats. We also had the cable ferries to watch for. You can't pass close in front or back of them for the cable. Each town had an ornate church with steeple.

Cable ferry.

Lots of float planes.

Our last lock on the river was Saint Ours. We had planned to spend the night at the free wall but upon the advise of our neighbors on the wall we pressed on to Marina Parc Bellerive. It is also an RV park and has an onsite restaurant where we had dinner as well as a marine store where I replaced a fender that blew out a few days ago

In the Saint Our's lock.

Ann had to try local food. Poutine a la saucisse fumee! Fries with sausage and gravy with cheese curds.

When I got up this morning we are fogged in and 54 degrees. Here are a few pictures of Charis taken by John on Go.

Today we will head for an anchorage about half way to Montreal and we should be in the city tomorrow. Happy birthday Ken!
