Elizabeth City, NC

18 June 2015    38.4 sm today

Our plans for a quick breakfast at 600 am and departure shortly came to an abrupt change when the thunderstorms rolled through at 510 am. I was caught in the bathrooms for about 20 minutes until it let up enough to head back to the boat. We did get breakfast and left about 730 am. We headed out across Albermarle Sound for a rolly ride. There was light chop but on the beam. Once we got to the other side things smoothed out. We dodged crab pots the whole day today. Just before Elizabeth city we passed an old naval airship base that is now used by a private company that builds them and tests them there. Many are used along our southern borders for surveillance. We passed through Elizabeth City to Lambs Marina so we didn't have to deal with the bridge in town upon departure tomorrow. Lambs is a quaint little marina to say the least. They have a loner car that we used to go back through the city and do some shopping. The people here are great and very friendly. The restaurant on site is fabulous.
