Charleston day 6

3 June 2015    0 sm today

We planned on departing at 800 am this morning but severe thunderstorms started about 230 am and them and rain continued most of the day. I got a bunch of future routes planned and an afternoon nap. We were saved this evening by cousin Jimmy who invited us to the American Legion for wings. A bit about Jimmy: he is the founder of "Run for the Wall". It's a motorcycle ride originating in California and traveling to the Viet Nam Wall in Washington DC. He started it some 27 years ago to bring awareness to the POW-MIA issues. They stop in small towns to speak to communities about the POW's & MIA's. It has grown so large that they now have 3 different routes across the country. They had about 1500 riders on each route this year. They travel back roads and the communities welcome them. They feed them and house them. He is an amazing man who I have great respect for.
