St. Augustine

12 May 2015    18.5 sm today

Today got off to an early start as we walked across the street to watch the sun rise at 630am. What a blessed way to start the day.

We shoved off about 800 am for the short trip to St. Augustine. The weather was again beautiful with flat water. The scenery was constantly changing from lots of house to marshland.

We arrived in St. Augustine just before lunch which we had at A1 Ale House. We then got tickets on the trolley that takes you on a narrated tour of all the attractions and allows you to get on and off at whichever ones you want to see. We got off first at the St. Augustine Distillery. This is privately owned and just opened a year ago. They partner with local farmers for their ingredients. So far they have bottled gin & vodka because they don't have to age. They expect there first rum this fall and bourbon next year.

Lots of bourbon.

Our next stop was the Fountain of Youth. Beautiful grounds with lots of peacocks.

The admiral drinking from the fountain.

Look how much younger she looks.
We rode the entire way around for about an hour and a half.

Castillo de San Marcos.

One of the many churches.
After get younger we strolled through some of the shops in town.

Ponce de Leon, all 4'7" of him.
All in all a wonderful day playing tourist. We are berthed just off the Bridge of Lions in the city marina. More to follow tomorrow as we stay until the 14th.
