Last leg to Kingston, Ontario

We locked down just after 0900 on our last leg in the beautiful Rideau. The scenery changes dramatically as we head south. From rocky cliffs to flat lands. 7 locks and a swing bride. Leaving last 3 locks at Kingston Mills had a little sad. We've had such an incredible time on this canal system. I think we could cruise it for many summers ahead. The beauty, serenity and friendly people have made it an experience of a lifetime.

Ann took many shots of the aft gates after we were lowered down and the amount of water rushing in.

Looking back into the lock.

The Duddon Pilot

We spotted Kingston about 5 miles before we arrived. Had to lower the antennas to get under the fixed portion of a bridge or wait for a scheduled opening. At last into Confederation Basin Marina.

We took a walk around to get the lay of the land and plan out our sightseeing for tomorrow.

The old Kingston train station sits right at the entrance to the marina. It now is the visitor information center.

Ron and Jan from Adagio stopped by. The managed to catch up and pass us when we were stuck in Portland with the winds. We've been ahead of them the entire summer. We went to dinner at Che Piggy which was recommended to us by the guy in the last locks just in front of us. Ron & Jan had discovered it at lunch. Great meal and atmosphere in a courtyard.

The entrance to Che piggy!

We feel truly blessed to have been able to do this journey. Words can't describe what we have seen and done and the emotions that we've felt. In a few more weeks we'll be back in Brewerton, NY and then home to Florida.
