West Point , Tue. June 11th

Monday it rained most of the day here so we did boat chores and laundry. We are ever so glad to have the washer/dryer combo onboard. We are renting a car Tue. to go to West Point so Enterprise let us pick it up at 530pm and didn't start charging us until 730 am Tue. That gave us a chance to drive around a bit and have dinner out.

Tue. the weather improved and we left for West Point a little after 9 am with Rick & Leila accompanying us. We arrived and purchased tickets for the 11 am 2 hour guided tour. West point sits on the cliffs overlooking the Hudson River.

The first stop was the Cadet Chapel. Beautiful building with lots of stained glass windows.

Next stop was the cemetery. So many very famous people buried here. Here is one headstone that everyone will recognize.

Look at the views here. Then the parade field and the barracks.

A commanding position to stop the British from coming down the Hudson.

We had 6 loopers on that tour today so we had to get a group photo.

After the tour we all had lunch in town and afterward we toured the museum.

Today, Wed., we are heading back to the city to see a matinee in the theatre district then have dinner in Little Italy.

  1. Looks like you're having a great time. Sorry we couldn't be there yet. Hope to head up the Hudson on Sunday.
