Goodbye Croton on Hudson, Hello Kingston

We had a beautiful day on the Hudson yesterday. I'm continually in awe of the beautiful sights that God created for us.

Bear Mountain Bridge just south of West Point. We drove over it last week.

West Point!

Note the water depth in the lower left corner. This was off West Point.

These are of an old castle on Pollepel Island. Widely known as Bannerman's Island. It was built by Frank Bannerman between 1900 & 1918 as a summer home and warehouse. The castle burned in 1969 and is now closed.

This is a walking bridge across the Hudson. It is an old railroad bridge and is in Poughkeepsie, NY.

The Culinary Institute of America as
seen from the river.

Esopus Lighthouse built in 1872.

The entrance to Rondout Creek in Kingston.

Kingston waterfront.

The museum.

Peaceful evening in the Rondout Yacht Basin.

Thursday sunrise at 0515.

  1. You guys are having a VASTLY different experience in the NY area than we did last year when it was sunny and calm and we traveled the Hudson, Erie and Oswego in 11 days after leaving NYC. Wow! Reading "Help Me Rhonda's" latest post doesn't leave one feeling optimistic about how soon the last five locks will re-open. Weeks ago, bought airline tickets to Toronto to meet Looper friends on "Second Wind" assuming they'd be on the Trent-Severn or possibly in Georgian Bay. Instead they're still othe Hudson River too. Ugh! Feeling badly for 2013 Looper challenges! Hang in there, stay tough, makes for great stories for the rest of your life! Cathryn and Bob (formerly on M/V Next To Me)
