We took the train back to the city yesterday to see a matinee. From Grand Central Station we walked to Broadway and had lunch up on the roof in an Irish pub .
The stools are all made from kegs.
Rick & Leila.
Lunch was good and the timing was right to arrive at the box office as it opened. The play was Vanya, Sonia, Masha & Spike. It was a comedy starring Sigourney Weaver and David Hyde Pierce (also known as Niles Crain on Frasier). For the next 2 1/2 hours we laughed and laughed. It was fabulous! Our plans after the show included dinner in Little Italy which is quite a distance away. It was now about 430 pm and of course rush hour so not an empty cab in sight. We decided to walk a ways in the general direction which actually was a treat.
The set from the play.
The girls new friend, for a tip of course.
Time Square
After about a half hour walking and off the main streets we flagged a cab and arrived in Little Italy. We spotted a restaurant, Da Nico, that advertised a 100 seat outdoor garden. We headed in and had a wonderful meal. A short taxi ride later and we were back in Grand Central Station and soon on the train headed north getting back at 930 pm. What a full day!
