New York New York!

Friday the 7th it poured from the heavens for what seemed like 50 hours. We stayed inside and did laundry and boat chores.

Got up Sat. morning with the intention of leaving but the weather was so nice and no rain in the forecast so we decided to stay and visit the "city". We had a wonderful day. First to the 9/11 memorial at the World Trade Center. Then walked to the New York Stock Exchange on Wall Street. Then to Chinatown and had a great lunch. Then we got brave and decided to take the subway to Rockefeller Center. Instead we wound up in Brooklyn! The R train doesn't go uptown on the weekends! Some nice young guys on the train told us how to get where we wanted to go so we finally made it.

The ferry.

The World Trade Center tower #1.

The memorial at the site of the old tower.

The lines to get in after we came out.

Ann wanted to see the Today show but it was over at 1000 and we were there after lunch. She did see the studio, Park of the Americas and the street just outside. We paid the $25 senior fee each to go up to the 70th floor and see the awesome sites of the city. We spent close to an hour up there, it was fabulous!

From there we had a bit of a walk to the subway so on the way we Stopped for a "cold one". Also picked up a salad from a deli to take home for dinner. We got to the subway only to find that it didn't operate thru that station on the weekends. Now the hard choice, walk the 60-70 blocks back to the ferry or get a cab. $16 dollars later we disembarked the yellow cab at the ferry for the ride back to the marina.
