Havana, Il.

59 low / 83 high                                                 1 lock today / 58 for 2014

Yesterday was a beautiful day to be on the water. We left the IVY Club about 700 am with a 10 mile run to the only lock of the day. When we called the lock he said come right up and tie to his wall and when the tow inside exited we would go down. 3 loopers ahead of us so 5 in total. We must have passed at least 5 tows during the day. This section of the river was also quite pretty. We arrived at Tall Timbers Marina in Havana, Il. just after 100 pm. It's a very small place but very quaint. The lady checking us in told us that the town was having Oktoberfest this weekend and we shouldn't miss it, So we didn't. Things were being packed up by the time we walked up but we did have time for a beer and some people watching. On the way back, Ann & Sue decided we should go into a small local bar. We got quite some looks as we entered from the few people that were there but everyone was very friendly. It was 50 cent draft Miller High Life day so we sat and partook. Back on the boat we watched some football and had dinner. Today we're off to Beardstown to tie up on barges for the night.
