National Harbor, Md.

2 July 2015    66.9 sm today

We departed Colonial Beach early prepared for a long day. It was overcast most of the day with a few passing showers. The temperature stayed down in the low 80's which made it comfortable after the generator quit and we lost air conditioning. The expected currents against us never materialized as strong as forecast so we made good time arriving just south of Washington DC by about 230 pm. After getting the boat settled in we took the water taxi across the river to Alexandria. We walked the old streets for a bit and had dinner. Later returning by water taxi to National Harbor. Walking back to the boat we stopped for a night cap and then and a good nights sleep.

Leaving Carolina Beach.

Boathouse Marina.

Mt. Vernon.

Debris in the water reminded us of the Hudson and Mississippi.

National Harbor Marina ahead.
