Melbourne

7 April 2015   48 sm today

We pulled out of the marina this morning at 800 am following Mara Beel towards Melbourne. Another beautiful day on the water. Forecasts called for 10-15 knots with gusts to 20, but it never got that high. The intercoastal runs through very wide shallow stretches and through areas dotted with small islands. Again lots of beautiful homes.

Leaving the marina.

New floating piers scheduled to open April 20th.

Speed limit sign.

We passed several dredges.

The black spot in front of the sand bar is a dolphin's fin.

Once tucked into Melbourne Harbor Marina we had a beer at the marina bar called Ichabod's, made dinner reservations at the Chart House but later cancelled them. Instead we found a restaurant nearby called the Mansion. An old home nor converted to a liquor store, deli, bakery and restaurant. It's an enormous place with 3 seating areas. We chose the upper deck with views of the intercoastal. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The food was wonderful. If you stop in Melbourne don't miss this. Their menu advertises 73 different beers on tap, 850 micro brews, 800 wines & 700 liquors.

The front entrance.

The upper deck.

Part of the beer room.
