Alligator River Marina then Belhaven

9 & 10 October 2015      91 sm. total

We left Coinjack early but after about 12 big boats heading south. Almost all were deliveries to south Florida. We headed out across the Albermarle Sound with a good forecast. It was choppy and the winds were higher than expected but it was not an uncomfortable ride. We pulled in to Alligator River Marina just after lunch and had the afternoon to relax and wash the boat.

The dock at Coinjock early in the morning.

The navy came by just after sunrise.

Marina office and one of the large yachts.

Adagio being chased by a crabber.

This one passed us also.

At rest in Alligator River Marina.

They even had a lighthouse!
This morning we were up in the dark to have breakfast at the marina store. Then a few minutes past sunrise we headed out in hopes of beating the increasing winds that were forecast. It worked and we had a pleasant ride down the Alligator river and the Alligator Pungo canal to Belhaven. As we pulled in the wind was steadily increasing and it wasn't to long until the rains started. They had flooding here and part of main street is still under water. We are at Belhaven Waterway Marina. It's a beautiful little spot with room for about 4 big boats. The owners live here and take wonderful care of the property.

The Alligator Pungo Canal which is 20 miles of this.

Coming into Belhaven.

We are just to the left of the left docks.
