Ft. Pierce

We got a normal start at 800 am after a lovely night in Indiantown Marina. The marina was very tropical and you felt like you were in the keys. Our only hang up was an hour wait for the St. Lucie lock. After that it was pleasant until we passed Stuart when everybody and his brother was out racing around. We made it to Ft. Pierce around 3 pm. Andy & Julie came over for Easter dinner. Ann had cooked a ham in the crock pot and it tore apart like pulled pork. It was delicious! Yesterday we felt our way around the area. We will be here until the 11th of April so there may not be any posts until then.

Across Lake Okeechobee to Indiantown

Four boats departed the city dock in Moore Have around 7 am this morning. with a great weather forecast for the crossing. We were not disappointed, the lake was flat. We had an enjoyable ride but had no destination. every marina on the east side of the lake was full. Fortunately Julie from Fruitcakes sweet talked the lady here in Indiantown to  let us stay on the fuel dock overnight. They closed just as we arrived and are closed tomorrow. It's a lovely marina with a very tropical look to it. Also alligators!

Moore Haven

As I stated in the last post, Thursday the 24th was a rest day. We visited the farmer's market, did a little shopping and had lunch. We really enjoy the old Fort Myers downtown area. Later we had docktails on the boat with Andy & Julie and 2 of their family members who had just returned from Cuba. It was enjoyable listening to their stories.

Lots of wonderful fruits and veggies.

We left Fort Myers in the dark at 0700 Friday morning and had a nice cruise to Moore Haven.

On the move again!

We are on the move again. Traveled to Fort Myers today in about 9 hours so Thursday will be a rest day. We had beautiful weather all the way. We don't like to travel the intercoastal on the weekend because of all the boats out. Well I forgot it was spring break and it seems everybody rented a boat! We are heading to Fort Pierce now for the spring MTOA (marine trawler owners association) rendezvous. Then we head north to Jacksonville and will cruise the St. John's River to Sanford.

We arrived here just in time for docktails with Andy & Julie on Fruitcakes as well as some other loopers and MTOA'ers. Andy & Julie will travel the St. John's with us.
